Webinar – Unlocking the Future: Generative AI’s Transformation of Industries and Patent Landscapes at the JPO and USPTO

Our patent attorney, Fumio Takahashi joined IAM Masterclass webinar on October 25.  He discussed with US-based Dority & Manning, P.A. regarding legal consideration on generative AIs in the U.S. and Japan.

Discussion topics include a general overview of Generative AI, as well as a comparison of the treatment of AI-based inventions between the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO). For example, the presentation highlights key differences between US Japanese practice in relation to:

  1. Patent eligibility issues for AI-based inventions
  2. Written description and enablement requirements for AI-based inventions
  3. Claim drafting strategies and tips for AI-based inventions
  4. Inventor/Ownership Issues: AI system or inventor?

The combination of open-source tools, educational resources, cloud infrastructure, and user-friendly interfaces is making Generative AI more accessible to a broader audience, democratizing access to this transformative technology and fostering innovation across various domains.
