Mr. Tani is primarily responsible for patent prosecution related to fuel cells, secondary batteries, semiconductor devices, display devices, optical equipment, medical devices, inorganic materials, organic materials, and chemical processes. He also handles matters in the fields of materials informatics, process informatics, and green chemistry.
Mr. Tani conducted comprehensive research in his master’s program on the pyrolysis–gasification behavior of semi-carbonized biomass. He examined the effects of semi-carbonization conditions on composition and structure, differences arising from biomass types, the influence of reduction catalysts, and modeling and analysis of reaction behavior. His work demonstrated that controlling biomass type and semi-carbonization conditions enables selective production of H₂ or CO during the gasification process.
