Dr. Masaoka is mainly responsible for the fields of control, mechatronics, IoT, and AI algorithms. He also has extensive knowledge of motor control, machine learning, UAVs, and AGVs.

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Masaoka conducted a wide range of research on control. In particular, he focused on combining pressure distribution sensors with wearable robots and devices to improve safety and control performance through force feedback control. His research ranged from traditional assistive robots with hard frames to haptic devices using soft robots made of cloth.
