Japanese patent practice accepts some amendments based on matters not explicitly described in the specification and/or based on matters shown in figures. The JPO provides some example cases showing whether or not amendments in each example correspond to the Addition of New Matter. In this webinar, using the JPO’s examples, I will explain Japanese practice related to the Addition of New Matter and show how to maintain the desired scope of claims without making it too narrow.
