The Japan Patent Office (JPO) released a report titled “Research Study on Patent Examination for AI-Related Inventions based on Recent Judicial Precedents, etc.” in February 2021.
This report reveals the results of a comparison of systems and practices for AI-related inventions in seven jurisdictions including IP5 (USPTO, EPO, CNIPA, KPO, and JPO).
In this webinar, the differences between Japan and other jurisdictions covered in the report will be explained, and the key points for obtaining a patent right in Japan will also be discussed by incorporating our own views.
