Comments from Speaker

This webinar introduces two notable Japanese patent cases in the biotech and chemical fields. The first, the Tomato-Containing Beverage Case, illustrating one such instance where the Japanese court closely scrutinized sensory test results presented in working examples for food-related inventions. The second, the Nalfurafine Case, concerns infringement of an extended, pharmaceutical patent right and resulted in the highest damages award ever granted in Japan. Through these decisions, participants will gain practical insight into requirements for patent specifications in Japan and trends in Japanese court judgments.
