For overseas applicants who file patent applications with the JPO, there seem to be considerable questions and/or confusion on the requirements for the Japanese translation as well as the novelty and inventive step examination. In this presentation, we will discuss requirements for claim recitations imposed by the JPO, especially, in the electrical and IT fields. The audience will be provided with knowledge on the claim recitation requirements, in particular for clarity, from a fundamental level. We hope this will help overseas applicants prepare amendments when entering into the Japanese national phase and responding to office actions from the JPO.
